Brush Fire Season is upon us

April 4, 2013

With the winter now coming to a close, the spring brush fire season is here. The warmer weather and dry gusty spring winds comes dry vegetation that can result in brush fires that burn and spread quickly. Residents are urged to use caution and report any suspicious odors of smoke or outside burning. Although Farmington is not known for having extensive brush fires, we are always concerned about the potential for camp fires and open burning that gets away from home owners. Please contact the Farmington Fire Marshal at 860-675-2322 if you have any questions about outdoor fires. Additionally please see the attached prevention tips from the State of Connecticut Department of Energy and Environmental Protection.
