How many times have you seen a fire truck pass you with lights and sirens on the way to an emergency? How many parades have you stood on the side of the road and cheered for the fire fighters as they proudly marched by dressed in their uniforms? How many times have you thought that you might enjoy being a part of that excitement, tradition and camaraderie?
Volunteer fire fighters come in all shapes, sizes, and ages. The East Farmington Volunteer Fire Department is made up of people who have full-time jobs and families, and have decided that they can also make time in their schedule to help their friends and neighbors during times of need. Our volunteer fire fighters are men and women, attorneys, college students, engineers, landscapers, financial analysts, truck drivers, insurance associates, carpenters, and retired professionals.
The rewards of being a volunteer fire fighter are plentiful. There is the sense of accomplishment that comes from controlling a fire, the joy and elation that follows the birth of a child, the timid “thank you” that is received from an accident victim, and the satisfaction that goes along with teaching children about fire safety.
If you are willing to share some of your time and energy, we will provide you with the training and equipment you need to safely help your friends and neighbors.
