What’s in It for Me?

Why should I become a member of a volunteer fire department?  It sounds like a lot of work for little gain.  This is absolutely not true.  Let’s look at the fire department mission statement and core values.

The Town of Farmington Fire Department is dedicated to providing for the safety and welfare of the community through the preservation of life, property, and the environment by maintaining a constant state of readiness through fire fighter training and public education. 

Our Core Values are Professionalism;  Dedication;  Integrity;  Respect; and Teamwork.

Professionalism – continual education is provided to learn and maintain skill sets including firefighting, emergency medical care, leadership and personal growth.  Many of our members become full-time firefighters/EMT’s with career departments and services.

Dedication – service to the community and a sense of purpose increasing your self-worth.

Integrity – a sense of completeness, of being honest with strong moral principles.

Respect – earn honor and esteem from your peers and the community.  Many of our members become leaders in their community and businesses.

Teamwork – learn life skills that enable you to contribute positively to the group.  Learn skills to become a leader in whatever you do. Learn skills to affect positive change.

So, what’s in it for you?  More than you’ll ever know.
